Job Title: Sault Area Hospital Security Guard

NORPRO Security, a division of N1 Solutions Inc., is looking for independent and motivated individuals to join our team as Sault Area Hospital Security Guards.

In this role, the Security Guards will be responsible for providing safety and protection of all employees, visitors, and company assets. Guards will maintain a high visibility presence to deter illegal and inappropriate actions, look for signs of crime or other hazards, take action to minimize damage, and report any incidents to their supervisor, clients, and emergency services as appropriate.

This will include stationary guard, patrol on foot, and monitor premises to prevent theft, violence, or rule infractions.

As a Sault Area Hospital Security Guard, your key duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Ensuring the security and safety of all personnel and visitors
  • Utilizing effective communications skills to establish trust with personnel and visitors
  • Responding to crisis situations in a calm, reassuring demeanor
  • Identifying escalating behavior and intervening using Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and Crisis and Restraint Management principles
  • Escorting/removing individuals from site and/or property at the request of clinical staff or upon assessment when behaviour becomes illegal, intrusive, disruptive, violent, or impedes the capability to provide care
  • Patrolling designated property to prevent intrusion, damage, hazards, and breaches of security
  • Observing the building and grounds for any hazards, weapons, or items that may be used as weapons and reporting findings to Security Supervisor
  • Conducting conspicuous foot patrol and circulate on the unit at a minimum of every half hour to demonstrate presence to staff and patients
  • Contacting law enforcement upon request of the clinical staff or upon assessment of circumstances arising
  • Responding to alarms
  • Operating/monitoring equipment and complex security cameras
  • Writing and submitting security reports
  • Ensuring all incident/accident reports are recorded accurately and submitted to the Manager as they occur
  • Initiating emergency response codes as per emergency plans
  • Other related duties as requested


  • Current valid Security Guard License
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR; Level C (AED)
  • Certified Non Violent Crisis Intervention (or willing to train)
  • Certified Resistance Management and Effective Communications (or willing to train)
  • Valid Driver’s License, Clear Drivers Abstract and CPIC
  • Able to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to respond and deal with urgent/critical issues
